Advanced Study Group Input Data and Validation

Prof. Dr. Gunther Eggeler

The advanced study group “Input Data and Validation” is located at the Institute of Materials at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The advanced study group has the following two objectives:
(1) Research on three projects which are coordinated by the group. In these projects, scientist from the advanced study group and from the ICAMS departments MMM, STKS and AMS work together on different material science issues.
(2) Generation of experimental data to improve and validate simulations in other ICAMS projects. The advanced study group provides experimental support for ICAMS projects in terms of microstructural characterization, mechanical testing and processing of small quantities of materials.

Currently, there are interactions with the following ICAMS projects: MMM-02-01 (Grain boundary fracture), MMM-02-03 (Surfaces by coarse grained atomistics), MM-05-01 (Polycrystal plasticity), MMM-05-03 (Transformation induced plasticity), AMS-01-02 (BOP for Fe-C), IEHK-05-01 (Realgefüge), IEHK-06-02 (Simulation Kurzrisswachstum) and IEHK-05-03 (DiffBain). Additionally, there are further cooperations between the Chair of Material Science and various ICAMS departments.
