The behavior of colloidal particles in anisotropic ﬂuids with long-range orientational ordering, such as nematic liquid crystals, has attracted a great attention in soft condensed matter physics. The orientation order parameter of the ﬂuid is distorted from its uniform orientation in the bulk due to anchoring to the surface of the colloidal particles. Defect structure and the interaction between two spherical colloidal particles with degenerate planar anchoring in a nematic media are discussed.
