The German research foundation (DFG) funds a new research project where ICAMS and the Faculty for Mathematics join forces. Rebecca Janisch and Holger Dette will develop new mathematical models for the geometrical description of grain boundaries. A more efficient description of mechanisms related to grain boundaries will help to optimize the properties of many materials.
