Lattice Boltzmann equation method
Abstract: The history of the lattice Boltzmann method (> 20 years). Development of the discrete models of continuous media. Equations and algorithm of the LBE method. Derivation of LBE method from the kinetic Boltzmann equation. Different implementations of the body force term. Galilean Invariance. Exact difference method. Single relaxation time and multiple relaxation times collision operators. Theoretical background and the derivation of the macroscopic hydrodynamic equations (Euler and Navier Stokes equations). Examples of LBE simulations for single-phase media. Electrostriction waves in dielectric liquid in non-uniform electric field. Flows of non-Newton liquids.
LBE method with the equation of state with phase transition. Analytical equations of state. The numerical stability of the lattice Boltzmann equation (LBE) method in
simulations of a fluid described by an equation of state with possible vapor-liquid phase transitions.Real equation of state for fluids in LBE simulations. Example of several
isotherms for real EOS of water.
Examples of LBE simulations with phase transitions. Spinodal decomposition of a fluid. Cavitation phenomenon in the rarefaction waves. The fall of a liquid droplet
in gravitational field onto the nonwettable surface. The Marangoni effect for thin film with the temperature distribution along the surface. Coalescence of two liquid drops placed in other liquid of the same density. Anisotropic decay of dielectric liquids into the two-phase system of vapor channels in liquid.
