Abstract: The history of the lattice Boltzmann method (> 20 years). Development of the discrete models of continuous media. Equations and algorithm of the LBE method. Derivation of LBE method from the kinetic Boltzmann equation. Different implementations of the body force term. Galilean Invariance. Exact diff erence method. Single relaxation time and multiple relaxation times collision operators. Theoretical background and the derivation of the macroscopic hydrodynamic equations (Euler and Navier Stokes equations). Examples of LBE simulations for single-phase media. Electrostriction waves in dielectric liquid in non-uniform electric field. Flows of non-Newton liquids.

LBE method with the equation of state with phase transition. Analytical equations of state. The numerical stability of the lattice Boltzmann equation (LBE) method in simulations of a fluid described by an equation of state with possible vapor-liquid phase transitions.Real equation of state for fluids in LBE simulations. Example of several isotherms for real EOS of water.
Examples of LBE simulations with phase transitions. Spinodal decomposition of a fluid. Cavitation phenomenon in the rarefaction waves.
