Project Groups
Research at ICAMS is conducted in more than 40 projects. Approximately one third of these projects has an experimental component, serving to test and verify the models and numerical simulations developed at ICAMS. The experiments are conducted mainly by the three Advanced Study Groups or by the ICAMS departments directly and to a lesser extent also by external collaborators. Click?here?to see all projects.
A common focus of this large number of projects is achieved by arranging them into a total of five project groups. All projects within one project group work towards a larger goal and employ related methods. The progress of the project groups is presented at an ICAMS Advanced Discussion every six months. The following projects groups were set up:
Project Groups
Defects and Elementary Processes
Identification of relations between crystal imperfections and elementary processes that determine the material properties on larger length and time scales.Deformation Mechanisms and Phase Transformations
Description of mechanical properties and microstructure evolutions of multi-phase materials. Development of a multi-field simulation platform for industrial and academic research.Kinetics of Phase Transitions
Within the project group atomistic and mesoscale approaches are combined to obtain a better understanding of processes involved phase transformations, especially with respect to the underlying kinetics and mechanisms.Thermodynamics and Phase Stability
Calculation of phase diagrams.Creation of a thermodynamic steel database.
