The concept of “finite dissipation” was recently introduced and implemented in the OpenPhase framework. It is useful to model the formation of thermodynamic equilibrium by non-instantaneous potential assimilation, e.g. by exchange of diffusing species, for any two contacting materials. Since there are many processes, each with its own activation energy, involved in electrochemical systems, a new experimental access to the permeability was established.
