Microstructure is of utmost importance for material characterisation since it effects most of the material parameters like effective stiffness or diffusional behaviour. Therefore prediction of microstructure evolution is one of the final goals in material science. In the present talk the effect of deformation on microstructure evolution will be discussed. A large deformation framework, that is based on incremental accumulation of small deformation steps, is to be introduced. Its implementation in a phase-field software OpenPhase can not only be used to study mechanically driven microstructure evolution but also determine mechanical conditions that are needed to create a desired microstructure.
