Abstract

The coupling between chemical and mechanical fields developing around secondary-phase particles may influence their evolution path as well as their collective features in the matrix. We study the effect of concentration dependency of stiffness as demonstrated recently [1,2] on the growth and ripening of ?’ precipitates in supersaturated aluminium-lithium alloy. Mesoscale phase-field simulations are performed to take cross-coupling of composition and stress fields into account. Kinetics and statistical analysis show that the growth generally slows down at the presence of elasticity. The mechanochemical coupling modifies the overall kinetics of the ripening. Special arrangements of precipitates and inverse ripening are observed under this effect. [1] R. Darvishi Kamachali, E. Borukhovich, N.
