FID materials science - your open pathway to the world of materials

Abstract

The Specialised Information Service Materials Science and Engineering (FID Materials Sci-ence) supports scientists in the field of materials science and engineering with compre-hensive information and tailored services. This includes, among other things, materials data and related research results, specialist information and subject-specific literature. Therefore the Specialised Information Service develops the tools Material Hub, Materials Guide and Materials Map.

In the lecture we explain how our tools support the materials scientists in research tasks like publishing their research data, finding suitable materials as well as corporation part-ners. To this end we will demonstrate how the Materials Guide allows to find appropriate databases. Furthermore we will show how to use Materials Map to discover researchers on a specific topic and to get an overview of the research community, its actors and their ex-pertise and publications. Finally we illustrate how to use Material Hub for researching ma-terial properties from various data sources and for publishing own scientific results in a FAIR way.
