Numerical analysis of the fluid flow pattern in the Moni-Nizemi experiment on Spacelab IML-2

K. Leonartz, I. Steinbach

Microgravity Quarterly, 6, 145-154, (1996)

Download: BibTEX

The MONI-NIZEMI experiment examined as one objective the flow pattern in solidifying and not solidifying melts under different levels of gravitation between 0,001 g and 1 g. Numerical simulation of the fluid flow pattern was used to analyse the experimental condition an a post-experimental stage. The combination of experimental data evaluation and numerical modelling to fill in data which could not be measured in the experiment facility improve the scientific results.
