Evaluation of recovery kinetics of a commercial aluminum alloy 3103 using stress relaxation and double tension tests

S. Bhaumik, V. Mohles, G. Gottstein

Proceedings of the TMS 2009, 138th Annual Meeting & Exhibition, San Francisco, California, Symposium: Aluminum Cold Rolling and Strip Processing, 1191-1194, (2009)

Download: BibTEX

In the current study, stress relaxation tests at elevated temperatures were conducted on a commercial aluminum alloy. The aim was to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms governing the recovery processes and consequently, to obtain a reliable evaluation of recovery kinetics as well. Furthermore, these investigations enable to verify whether the stress relaxation measurements are suitable to replace the more laborious double tension tests.
