The electric field gradient of 111Cd in Tl5Te3 is studied by means of the time dependent perturbed angular correlation technique at several temperatures. The results are well fitted by just one frequency, asymmetry parameter η = 0, and small relative frequency distribution. The variation of δ with temperature indicates an order-disorder transformation. The nuclear quadrupole frequency varies with T3/2 up to 550 K. A comparison with the same type of structure compound In5Bi3 is presented as well as possible explanations for the peculiar apparent preference for just one site revealed by the single frequency.
